Global Buddy

What is the Global Buddy Program?
The Global Buddy Program is an exchange activity program that matches international students at our university (including language training students in the Korean education program) with Korean students. It aids international students in their school life and adapting to Korean culture while offering Korean students opportunities for language and cultural exchanges.

Qualifications

  • Students who are generally interested in overseas culture
  • Those with an average grade of C or higher
  • Students with basic Chinese and English conversational skills will be given extra points

Activity Period

  • One semester
  • At the end of the activity period, participants must submit a Buddy Program Activity Result Report (in the format provided by the university) and a post-activity review

Benefits

  • Recognized as an on-campus volunteer achievement
  • For students who registered for the "Community Service 1" course, volunteer hours are recognized and credits are given (Only after 30 hours of activities)
  • Extra points are given when applying for other programs supervised by the Institute of International Affairs
  • Certificate of Completion: A certificate is issued by the head of the Institute of International Affairs to those who sincerely participate in the buddy activity

Required Documents

  • Buddy Program Application Form (Institute of International Affairs format)

Mandatory Requirements

Assist exchange students from partner institutions in academic affairs and understanding Korean culture.

  • Help adapt to campus life
    • Academic Affairs: Assistance in initial semester registration, course registration, participation in classes, etc.
    • Campus Life: Basic introduction to the university, guidance on using the library, using the health clinic, assisting in club activities, participating in university festivals, etc.
  • Understanding Korean Culture
    • Traditional Culture Experience: Learning songs, participating in local traditional festivals, experiencing traditional games, visiting cultural heritage sites, etc.
    • Secure and submit photo evidence of the actual field trip
  • Others
    • Offer a homestay during Korean traditional holidays or weekends
    • Assist with various student concerns
    • Immediate and close communication with the Institute of International Affairs if any issues arise with the student

Submit a post-activity report within the stipulated time frame after the completion of the activity

Criteria for Recognition of Social Service Points

  • Those who applied for the social service course within the designated application period
  • A maximum of 5 hours per day and at least 6 days of activity will be accepted
  • Those who spend 30 hours of activity during the period

Types of Non-recognition of Social Service Credits

  • Those who did not apply for the social service course
  • Those who did not submit a service journal or lacked a seal
  • Those who completed less than 30 hours
  • Those who have already acquired 2 credits for social service
  • Those who were deemed ineligible by the Social Service Activities Committee

※ The recruitment period may be extended depending on school circumstances.

※ Students who cause problems or are insincere during the Buddy Program may lose all their achievements, and there may be restrictions on participating in other programs.
